Sagada: Residential Lodge

Months before our scheduled Sagada trip, I scouted for an affordable lodging with positive reviews online. Our travel date falls on a long weekend (November 29-December 2) so I have to plan ahead. This is the first time we'll be going to Sagada so proximity should be considered, a lodging house near the city center works best, it's close to pretty much everything.

Residential Lodge

Included in Top Specialty Lodging list in TripAdvisor, Residential Lodge has a good spot perfect for Sagada newbies.

It's just a few minute walk from restaurants like Salt and Pepper, Yoghurt House and Masferre. The street where the lodging house is located is where the Sagada tour starts as it's where you need to register at Saggas and/or Municipal Hall. It's also where souvenir shops and convenience stores are located as well as other lodging houses.

I immediately texted Tita Mary (09196728744), the owner and inquired for rooms. I sent the downpayment thru Western Union and wholla, we have a reservation. It was a fast and smooth transaction.

The common areas are as cozy as the rooms are. Pine wooden doors and walls, a kitchen, living room as well as a dining area right after the entrance. Christmas spirit can already be felt as we passed by the main door adorned with Christmas tree and other season decors. For only Php250 per person night, a homey ambiance, free flowing coffee, wifi, clean bedsheets and warm hospitality, this is already a dirt cheap price.

We got two rooms which fits 5 per room and has a private bath included with the much needed hot shower. For its affordability, don't expect free bath towels and other bath essentials. I actually like pension house, homestays, lodging houses and the likes rather than resorts and hotels as these budget friendly accommodations offer a sense of immersion and sometimes way more freebies (as you sometimes still need to pay for water from money sucking resort-hotels).

Sagada newbies no more! ^_^
