Alma Mater

Yesterday I went with my mom at DLSU-University Medical Center in Dasmariñas Cavite. But before we meet the doctor, I decided to drop by my alma mater, DLSU-D. I want to personally check what happened to our yearbook. I mean it's been 4 years since I graduated and still...ugh disappointing!
Mom and I entered the gate at PLS, showed my alumni card and toured mom. I remember the last time I visited the school...we were taping an episode for Star Magic then. We taped the shots at the olympic sized pool and roads near the area.

We weren't able to shoot scenes from other campus sites since we really just need an olympic size pool as required by the script, but I was able to tour the rest of the staff. They love my school!

This is where we had our class performance when we did a stage play drama entitled "Balaraw" for our Performing Arts class. The building was so new then.

The very first time I got back to the school since graduation was exactly after a year when I was taping for my 3rd show..."Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin", with lead stars Claudine Barreto, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. Also in the exceptional casts were Diether Ocampo, Angelika dela Cruz and Shaina Magdayao. Directed by FM Reyes and the late Gilbert "Manong" Perez and co-starring acclaimed actors , Jaclyn Jose, Tirso Cruz III, Hilda Koronel, Noni Buencamino, and Carmi Martin, with Kathleen Hermosa, Vanna Garcia, Marla Boyd and Glaiza de Castro.

We shot most of the scenes in the main road, kubos', Lagoon and in JFH building, College of Liberal Arts (my building for 4 years!). Guess where we had our standy area during taping? In room 301, my homegrown classroom! I remember telling Bea that this has been my room during my freshman year.

We were supposed to shoot in the library but school admin did not permit us to shoot after 12mn when most of the time we finish taping after sunrise (harsh!).

I really got frustrated because I wanted the show to tape at our library, my favorite tambayan during my college years. Nah I'm not nerd! I guess it's the cool breeze of library aircon and the tranquility of the area soothes my personality. I remember myself being at school at 7am even when my first class starts at 1pm! Studious huh? Frankly, being an early bird, I just prefer to commute early in the morning than late lunch time. Besides, I need to be extra careful with my white polo uniform (I have to commute daily from Biñan Laguna to Dasma Cavite).

ABS-CBN's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas visited our school during my señior year when we as Communication students celebrated our MAD (Media Awareness Days). Host Winnie Cordero was there.

Here's a sample itinerary of what we did. We actually stayed there for 3 days but I'll just share the places we've seen on the first 2 days since the 3rd day was spent watching the Panagbenga Float Parade. Pagsanjan Falls: The Php150 Challenge

I have lived in Laguna for 19 years but it was only this June 2012 was I able to visit the famous Laguna tourist spot, the Pagsanjan Falls. As much as I enjoyed seeing the falls, the journey, however, was much more memorable than the actual falls itself as we had to endure a 45 minute trek, rappel on a 90 degrees enclosed vertical metal ladder and walk past steep staircases - yeah, this is what you get when availing the cheapest Pagsanjan package . The group was extremely excited when I told them that I included Pagsanjan Falls in the itinerary - a plan that I was forced had to put together within 2 hours. From Villa Sylvia Resort , we hopped from one jeep to another until we reached Pagsanjan Aresi Complex. Asking for directions initially from the locals was a breeze but finding our way to Pueblo El Salvador (the jump off point) proved to be a challenge since all the locals we asked knew only of the usual Php1,250 route, doesn't know where Pueblo El Salvador is or what it

Our weekend was full of unforgettable first time experiences. What's great about this trip was that we were able to do many things in just 2 days and swim in different bodies of water - falls, batis  and lake. 2Go: The New Way to Travel to Boracay

Last year should have been my first Boracay trip and my first ever Visayas destination. But then it coincided with the  Malaysia trip so I had no choice but to cancel Boracay. We all know that flying from Manila to Caticlan has proven to be quite expensive and Piso Fare promos can be daunting to book especially if we are a big family plus the scheduling date is also tricky. But when I learned about 2Go (yes, the famous courier service) sailing from Batangas to Caticlan at a very affordable price, I pitched the idea to my parents.  2Go Ship docked at Caticlan Port It took quite some convincing before they finally said yes to the idea that we travel by sea to reach Boracay. Boracay: Itinerary, Expenses and Tips

Boracay may seem to be an expensive destination. But here's one thing I realized, like many of Philippines finest tourist spots, it can be done on a budget, especially if all you want is to simply enjoy the waters. Afterall, Boracay is really about the powdery sand and the crystal clear waters. 5 members of the family was able to enjoy Boracay in less than Php30,000 (all in!) Feel free to copy our itinerary ^_^
