On Travel: My Vision Board
My newly created Travel Vision Board |
A vision board is simply a visual representation or collage of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life. It consists of a poster or foam board with cut-out pictures, drawings and/or writing on it of the things that you want in your life or the things that you want to become. The purpose of a vision board is to activate the law of attraction to begin to pull things from your external environment that will enable you to realize your dream. By selecting pictures and writing that charges your emotions with feelings of passion, you will begin to manifest those things into your life. (source)
I am a firm believer of the power of creating a Vision Board simply because it works for me. The magic of attracting what you want to have, what you want to become, want to do and where you want to go. It's surprising how this simple board when after created and when regularly seen, can work wonders. I can't tell you how many of the cut out pictures I made in the past has become real, surprising really.
The above Vision Board uncovers my travel dreams. It's a newly created one, but has been life long goals to travel and experience these awe-inspiring destinations. Most of the places I desire to see were inspired from 2 travel books I read when I was still in elementary, one from the Time-Life book collection entitled "Famous Places" and the other, Childcraft Book#10 "Places To Know".
The Angel Falls from Venezuela tagged as the highest waterfalls in the world is one of my dream destination. I love waterfalls, and this one's the most majestic for me. In addition, staying inside an authentic igloo is part of my wildest dreams and sleeping inside an interesting snowhouse while admiring the breathtaking aurora borealis is the perfect set up! Based on research, the igloo village of Hotel Kakslauttanen in Finland is the best place to be. Now this dream would surely be a challenge and hopefully not a deadly threat as beating the cold temperatures of Baguio is difficult enough for me. But head's up - if there's a will, there's a way!
Another snowy country that's part of my bucket list-slash-vision board is to see China's Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. After watching a National Geographic documentary about the said festivity, I can't help but wish to see those giant ice structures painstakingly built hopefully before global warming takes its full toll on this hot spot.
A pilgrimage at the Holy Land is a spiritual journey I would love to share together with my aunts. Being raised in a religious home, mom and her sisters (where one is a nun) have been wanting to visit the place where Jesus lived and died. Discovering more about the historical aspects of Bethlehem and Jerusalem would surely be a life changing experience. As for me, having talked to an Israeli before about the Dead Sea brought back memories of childhood curiosity, wondering why people could easily float in this particular sea. For a kid like me who doesn't know how to swim then, floating in the Dead Sea looks like a fun water activity I want to enjoy.
My other goals include canvas painting on a street somewhere in Europe, Paris perhaps? Yes I do paint! :) Adding to that, like many other bloggers or online freelancers out there, being location independent is my ideal type of work set up. With help from other investment projects I have persistently worked on since college years, I know that dream is slowly becoming a reality.
To end this post, I would like to share these two photos. The left photo was taken on February 2010 during the 17th Travel Tour Expo at the Malaysia booth while the right side was taken during my free trip to Malaysia last November 2011. Believe, dreams do come true :) What are you waiting for, create your own vision board now and don't forget to FEEL GOOD while making one!

Update: See the cherry blossom picture at the bottom part of the vision board? Exactly 5 days after I made this travel vision board, I finally saw a cherry blossom! Somewhere I never thought possible - in Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan! Yes may cherry blossom pala sa Pinas, the Palawan cherry or Casia Nodosa! Sayang I wasn't able to take a photo of that tree, but I was just amazed at how fast it manifested.
